Project details

Many times you use your PC to install/copy software into a HD to use in your real Amiga. If you have a 3.5" HD and you don't have a case encloser to use a 3.5" HD, openning the PC case all the time could not be a good solution, so this project was a way to prevent this by supporting an old PC with a power output. I used a 4 pin male- female from a uhf cb radio microphone for the setup. The objective was passing the vulgar pc power cable outside the case thru the front of the PC.

Setup of the power output:

Here you see that i originaly removed the case cover on the PC to get power out.

Here you see the solution to the problem with the 3,5" harddrive wired and working. I used a 4 pin male- female from a uhf cb radio microphone set up but you can use many other things.

I made a long cable with the 4 wires 1= yellow 12v positive 2= black earth chassis 3= black earth chassis 4= red 5v positive.

Here you see where I fitted the base in the front of the case.

Here you see the internal wiring and harness I made up and then goes through to the base.

Here you see the base to the hole that was allready in the case. The lead from this base to the harddrive is just the same 4 wires as in picture 1 The cb microphone pins are numbered 1 to 4 and so is the plug for the harddrive. The microphone male - female connects with a lockout so only goes together one way. (carn't be wired wrong way)

Note: I've made a screw on cap so when cable is not plugged in the granddaughter doesn't touch it with metal and cause a short.
